Ulster Open 2010 - October 9th 2010

With thanks to Patrick for the views of the palatial hall in Lisburn, needless to say with the outcomes of the matches and form of our players, there are no individual pictures to show!! Haha

First match, Ashleigh played Rebecca Getty, losing 22-10 in the third,  very very close match.

Then myself and Patrick took on Conor Hickland & Scott Burnside (No. 2 seeds) losing in emphatic form 7 & 14, we never relaxed for one rally, well I didn't anyway (7).

Final match of the Trifecta was Patrick & Ashleigh against Justin Ho & Christine Graham, they lost in 2 sets, 11 & 14.

Definitely the word of the day was "Relax", not that it occurred, but it will!!

Onwards & Upwards! :-)

Congratulations to all winners, especially our coach Mark Topping, winning the Mixed event with Karen Bing, 2 out of 2 so far this year and claiming the silver medal in the Men's Doubles event with his brother Bruce, exceptional badminton.

Autumn Open 25th September 2010 - Baldoyle BC

Firstly, shout out to Patrick (Ninja 13) for not having any pics for this update!! :-p

Patrick (Ninja 13) played with Ashleigh (Ninja 11) in the mixed against Daniel Magee [2] & Fiona Glennon, "A lesson in badminton" is how Ninja 13 explained the result. Patrick and Ashleigh lost 21-3, 21-12

Ashleigh (Ninja 11) played the singles, losing to Rachel Orr 15 & 14. Lest we forget about that she said!! :-)

John (Ninja 7) played singles and got a lesson in how to feel old, losing 4 and 13 to Ciaran Chambers, lot of work to do in singles!!

Ninja 7 played with Aoife (Ninja 72) in the mixed winning their first match 8 & 13 to Richard Butler & Sharon Browne

Ninja 7 & 72 then played Andy Dopher & Grace Webster losing 12 & 19, both admitting that they should have taken the second set!

The final match of the day was Ninja 7 & 13 playing against Ross Mcniven & Lincoln Nelson losing 12 & 16, again feeling they should have taken the second set.

A bit of a disappointing day all round, but a lot of food for thoughts!!
